The citizens of Rye and New Castle are fortunate to be represented in the NH House by Tom Sherman and David Borden. Tom and David have worked collaboratively with other Democrats in the House to move NH forward and repair the damage caused by Bill O’Brien’s Republicans during the 2011-2012 term.
During the 2013-2014 term, House Democrats, among other things, passed a responsible bipartisan budget that restored funding to higher education and critical social services such as the Children in Need of Services (CHINS) program. They passed Joshua’s Law which makes it easier to identify, charge and prosecute domestic violence attackers. They passed the NH Paycheck Fairness Act that ensures that women receive equal pay for equal work. They passed a bipartisan transportation funding bill than invests in our infrastructure and creates NH jobs. They developed a bipartisan plan to provide affordable health care to 50,000 previously uninsured Granite Starters.
Please note all the bipartisan efforts. This is perhaps the greatest accomplishment of House Democrats during this term. Because of their majority, they were able to restore common sense and collegiality to the House and create an atmosphere of respect in which people can disagree, discuss, compromise and accomplish.
Tom Sherman and David Borden are perfect examples of that style. Their agenda in Concord is to work with representatives of both parties to improve the lives of NH citizens. A vote for them is a vote for responsible government.
